Corps Network Health Insurance
All AmeriCorps members serving in a full-time capacity must have ACA-compliant health insurance coverage. AmeriCorps members who are not covered through a parent or spouse’s plan may elect to receive health insurance through the Corps Network. If a member is already covered by a different plan, they must decline the Corps Network coverage (dual coverage is not permitted). Any member that declines the Corps Network coverage must provide proof of current health insurance coverage during enrollment.
At any time during the service year, a member may elect to enroll in or withdraw from the Corps Network plan. The member should communicate with their program staff as soon as they know of the change in status. Typically, members can be enrolled/withdrawn on the first of the month, however, mid-month insurance changes can be made if necessary.
Corps Network Health Insurance Summary
There is no monthly premium fee for members. The plan has no copay, however, a $175 deductible must be met before coinsurance rates apply. Coinsurance rates are 80%/20% for in- network providers, and 60%/40% for out-of-network providers. The Corps Network plan is underwritten by Cigna, a major healthcare provider; members should be able to find an in-network physician or specialist. Prescriptions are covered at an 80% rate. Dental and vision are NOT covered, however, supplemental plans may be purchased for a nominal monthly fee through the healthcare marketplace, www.healthcare.gov.
