  • Literacy First Housing Guide
    Crowdsourced housing resource for members relocating to or within the Austin area for AmeriCorps service with guides for different areas of the city, connecting with roommates, interacting with leasing agents, and avoiding scams.

  • AmeriCorps Member Peer-to-Peer Housing Resource (Interactive Map)
    The following information was taken from a May 2022 survey of AmeriCorps members currently serving in the Central Texas region (Austin/San Marcos metro area). Members were asked to share information about how they found housing and roommates, what their monthly housing expenses are, and how they would rate their housing situation. The interactive map below can be filtered by zip code, price range (monthly rent per person), or living situation, and includes reviews and general information about each person’s living situation. Please note that this is pending 2024-2025 data updates.

  • Foundation Communities
    A local nonprofit that provides affordable apartment housing in high quality complexes throughout Austin. AmeriCorps members who reside at this site may be eligible for a discounted rate. There is often a waitlist, and you will have a higher chance of securing housing through Foundation Communities if you apply in pairs.

  • City of Austin Affordable Housing Listing
    The Affordable Housing Online Search Tool (AHOST) is a searchable map and listing of income-restricted affordable rental housing within the City of Austin. The search tool shows rental housing that matches your household income and household size according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
